This week saw an array of stars come to the fore for their respective clubs and as The Gist, every week a deserving candidate will be voted The Gist’s ‘Weekly World Player of the Week’. Find out who the fans of The Gist voted as this week’s best player.

This weekend we saw four men shine for their respective clubs. They delivered devastating quality that helped lift their squad to victory.

The candidates……………..

Ngolo Kante
  1. Ngolo Kante was all over the pitch this past weekend. His perfect tackling and ball recovery pushed Chelsea to a 3-0 victory over champions Leicester City. The former Leicester man almost grabbed his first goal for Chelsea in the second half only to be kept out by a last ditch block by Wes Morgan. Kante walked away with the MOTM award.
Mesut Ozil

2.Mesut Ozil shone bright for Arsenal once again. The German looks reborn and is clearly benefiting from Arsenal’s overall form as he struck a decisive third goal for Arsenal in the weekend PL victory vs Swansea. He followed that up by scoring a hat trick in Arsenal’s 6-0 thumping of Ludogorets in the Champions League.

Leo Messi

3.      Lionel Messi marked his comeback from injury with a goal against Deportivo but he really shone on Tuesday as he continued to haunt former coach Pep Guardiola and Man City as he scored a hat trick on the night. The Argentine made the most of City’s defensive lapses and has shown that there are no cobwebs left from his recent injury that kept him out for three weeks.

Yannick Ferreira Carrasco

4.      Yannick Ferreira Carrasco also scored a hat trick this week, scoring three in Athletico’s rout of Granada and then scoring an important winner in Athletico’s Champions League trip to FC Rostov.
